Israeli occupation

Since 1948 Israel has extended its borders through the use of force. Until 1967 it was through wars were regular armies faced each other. Now, they conquer cities, rivers and aquifers in an obscure way, using settlers and interventions to "grant security". As it can be seen in the maps, Palestine controls now just 12% of its original territory. Its two parts, Gaza and the West Bank, are separated by israeli territory, and the access to Gaza currently is only permitted to journalists and diplomats holding a permit. To go from one city to another, palestinians need to pass through several checkpoints controlled by Israel, and in cities such as Nablus, the army imposes a curfew between 00.00 and 6.00. The Jordan River and the Death Sea, as well as the air space, are of Israeli exclusive control.

The situation is crystal clear. On the one hand, there is a military giant. Its society lives confortably, the military industry is happy, and the sacred places are being gradually conquered by the settlers, always helped by the state -free electricity, water and security, plus building licenses-. These places provide important incomes because of tourism. Nowadays, Al Quids is almost conquered, and Khalil and Beitlehem will not last much more. israel´s objective is that every palestinian leaves his land or becomes a discriminated citizen is Israel, altogether with avoiding the return of the 8 milion refugees living oustide Palestine

On the other side, there is Palestine, with its weak institutions, and whose population is fed up with politics because of the promises that never come to reality. The PNA has not enough competences, de facto, to fulfil the needs of its nationals, and many Fatah leaders are corrupted. Nor Hamas not any other yihaddist organization is a real threath for Israel as to feel fear of its territorial integrity.

In conclusion, Israel is interested in completing the occupation, and Palestine is not strong enough to avoid it. Thus, either the international community does something, or Palestine will disappear. By creating this blog, I intend to tell about my experience in the occupied territories so everyone can know what is going on there, showing the faces of the tragedy, and believing that every person in Europe and US has the power to change things.
